By securing the clip into the spirals of the calendar, you can now increase the functionality of the calendar by keeping a pen or pencil within arms reach at all times so that you can scribble in appointments and deadlines as soon as you are scheduling them. The penholder portion of the clip is made of a springy metal, which means you can use writing instruments of varying diameters without worrying about them not fitting in the clip.
